Carrie’s farm portrait session in Virginia Beach.

“Hey Mark, I have an idea” are my favorite words to hear.

It’s been far too long since I had the honor of working with Carrie so when she reached out to me recently with an idea to do a fashion session on a local farm I couldn’t say “yes” fast enough.

You see, I’m a farm boy born and raised so this was a homecoming of sorts.

I know I’m known for sessions at the beach as well as in urban environments. However, when the world is your backdrop anything and everything becomes an option. All we need is an idea and we are off to the races.

Especially if the location is off the beaten path or somewhere not open to the general public. Farms, fields, hotels, resorts, some deserted road in the middle of nowhere, et cetera.

Yes please.

I loved every minute of this session. Of course Carrie is a dream to work with. That alone makes it special. She does her thing and I do my very best to keep up with her. She flipped from country girl to fashionista and back effortlessly. Most importantly she loves every moment of it which, in my opinion, is paramount.

But then to be working in pastures with horses roaming about, hearing the turkeys talking, the ducks quaking, et cetera. Magical. But then I realized what I wasn’t hearing. No traffic, Heck, I think 3 cars went by the entire time we were there. Then there wasn’t any sirens wailing every 10 minutes. It was just perfect to my country boy heart.

So, if you have an idea for a portrait session, no matter how far out it may seem to you, contact me. I’d love to hear about it and then make it happen.
