It’s time to head outdoors and create unique images that will be cherished for generations.
Yep, it’s time to take the show on the road. Time to hit local and regional locations to use as backdrops for your portrait session. While I love working inside, the great outdoors appeals to me in so many different ways. We use the power of different environments to add depth to a scene and to inspire us as we work.
Most importantly, we use it to awe the viewers when it’s all said and done.
So let me take a moment to remind everyone what I offer. I have extensive experience in the following: Continue reading →
I’ll be home and looking to do photo sessions from June 27 until July 8th.
It’s been a crazy, crazy past few weeks with both shooting my normal stuff and images for my “Power” project. I’ve been a bit naughty in not keeping this as up to date as I should have. Forgive me.
I want to take a moment to let my upstate NY people know that I’ve already sat down and written out my availability calendar to plan sessions with while I’m up there.
As of right now I will only be shooting from June 27th until July 8th. Spots are already being filled. July 2nd at sunset is booked, all day the 3rd, as is the 4th at sunrise. Other days will be taken off the availability list as soon as I lean about family gatherings and such.
It’s warming up so it’s time to head outside again.
Yes, it’s time to shake off the winter slumber and return to business. Sessions are already starting to line up in the coming weeks. Make sure to contact me today for your portrait session.
Recently I made a call to action looking for women with unusual hobbies/skills and the response has been overwhelming. I hope it continues and grows bigger. To that end I’m including an image I shot this past weekend with Li Ling Cavanaugh. This is exactly what I’m talking about but just one example.
I’m re-issuing the call to action. If you are a woman with an unusual hobby/talent/skill I want to work with you. Are you a gearhead? Talk to me. A bodybuilder or seriously into fitness? I’m yours. A member of gun club, et cetera? Here I am. I want to work with strong, 21st century women for this project.
Let it be known, though, that I’m not interested in just this project. I love working with everyone in fulfilling their photographic needs. This is just one specific project I’m working on among several.

I’m sending out a call to women everywhere that have a hobby/talent that is non-standard. If you have a car/truck that you work on – I want to photograph you. If you are a member of an all-female gun club – I want to photograph you. If you powerlift, work/ride motorcycles, do woodworking, et cetera, – I want to photograph you. I hate when someone takes an obvious model, smear some grease on her face, put her in a bikini front of a car and pretend. I want the real thing. Contact me ASAP here or at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can get rolling.
Also – I’m looking into shooting apparel/clothing lines so if you know of someone looking for those kinds of images – let me know.

I get asked all the time if I do other forms of photography other than portraits.
Yes, most certainly. As this blog is geared for my portrait business it makes perfect sense to showcase just that avenue of work here. But there are other worlds that I like to explore. Portraits feed my soul, there no doubt. However, like eating just one thing, no matter how wonderful it is, having just that one thing all the time would kill a person. In this case, artistically.
So I have other avenues that I work in to re-center myself. They keep me fresh, energized and they break up the routine. Flowers are one thing, landscapes another. My deepest roots go back to photojournalism – working at newspapers to cover events. That has fallen to the way-side but I still enjoy covering events like sports and such.
Another thing that brings me peace is shooting artwork for other artists. Let me explain. Artists like painters and sculptors create their body of work. I come into their art space and document their work for their own records, for them to use to enter art shows, submit to gallery curators, et cetera.
