Headshot and Beauty Session with Bella S.

I find it oddly satisfying that I’m writing this on one of the coldest days of 2020.

Truth time. I hate the beach. The thought of giving up precious time just laying there, roasting, doing nothing kinda drives me nuts. There’s so much I want to do and see. I simply cannot relax there. Plus sand and salt gets into everything that you can’t completely get rid of. It’s just not my thing.

However, when it comes to photo sessions, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be. I am perfectly at home there. I vibe at an elevated level and the images show it. I’m not going to lie, being near some of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast is one of the biggest reasons why I stay here.

So, when I was doing a headshot session with Bella on a beautiful late October day, and we were discussing where else we could go to get images, I only had one question.

Where’s the nearest beach?

Come to find out the answer was 10 minutes away. You know what happened next.

We were blessed beyond belief. We had a beautiful, warm day. We had a semi-cloudy sunset that created a colorful, dramatic backdrop. The beach was nearly deserted. Most importantly, there was a large puddle of water separate from the ocean. As soon as we hit the sand I saw that reflective pool and never had a second thought as to where we would set up shop.

It was serendipity.

After setting up shop, taking a couple test shots to get everything lined up, we were off to the races. We only had about 30 minutes of daylight left and I wanted to use every single second of that precious light to full advantage.

Bella was born to be in front of the camera. She was relaxed and fully in the moment which always makes my job easier. We rocked and rolled until it was just too dark to shoot anymore. The walk back to our vehicles was full of what’s next and when we could go again.

I still have sand in my car from that session but you won’t hear me complain.
