The weather has not been cooperating lately.
Today I’m posting images from my session this past Spring with Jess. It was originally on the other site that now resides in the website graveyard.
The desire to get out and shoot is strong but this weather is just not working with me at all. I’m seeking out space above the HRBT to use. If you know of a place, let me know. I’ll keep you posted on further developments.
Jess was the last person I shot at in my home studio. I was trying to see if it would work and it did in this case. However, other sessions had to be cut short as the other person was allergic to cats. Plus the fur babies were always looking for attention, playing with cords or the backdrop, et cetera.
Of all the genres I shoot, fine art form is my absolute favorite. The human body is a fantastic thing. It is the pinnacle of art, actually. To record the play of light across curves and angels, to capture the skin’s various textures, is a zen-like experience for me. It elevates me spiritually and mentally.
Every human body is unique and they change over time which means the possibilities are endless. I could put 100 people into the same pose, in the same light, and get 100 different results. The mind staggers with the possibilities.
Obviously, this style of work isn’t for everyone. You need to be comfortable with yourself and with someone very close taking pictures. Like right there. This means there must be a level of trust between us which comes from working with each other a few times beforehand.
Jess and I have that. She has faith in me that that was earned from several sessions over the course of three years. Not to mention she’s one of the most fearless women I know when it comes to her physical appearance. The combination of the two makes for some powerful juju when it comes to photo shoots.
I cant wait to see what we come up with next.
