Brookelynn’s fashion session in Town Center.

The Virginia Beach newcomer is looking to break into fashion modeling.

Brookelynn has a dream to become a fashion model. She, and her dad, reached out to me to talk about the possibility of doing a session to start building her portfolio. We met at a local bookstore to hash out exactly what she was getting into and what kind of images she would need.

She immediately struck me as someone with the drive to succeed which, as far as I’m concerned, is the most important quality a model can bring to the game. Yes, someone can have the physical attributes to be successful but that simply isn’t enough. If and when the call comes for a shoot, the real model will change their plans to be there. Need to be on the beach at 5am for a sunrise shoot? You need to be there.

I could go on but you get the point. Brookelynn, and her dad, were on time and ready to rock. It was a tad chilly the day of the session but she didn’t voice a word of discomfort the entire time. She didn’t argue when I suggested we take a break for some hot chocolate, but to be honest, I enjoyed a hot beverage myself. Then we were back at it.

She was attentive and very open to suggestions for posing and modeling in general. She was serious but easy to work with and quick with a come back when I said something silly. She more than held her own against the camera which is amazing considering it was her first time with a pro.

I have no doubt that she will go exactly as far as she wants to in this business.
