Susie’s sunrise beach and boudoir Super Session in Virginia Beach.

Tis the season for Super Sessions.

Ah, I love this time of year. The weather is warm, the sun is bright, and the sessions are often. This is exactly why I moved here nine years ago.

Where I’m from, we get less than three good months of shooting at the beach. There’s still snow on the ground in May. It doesn’t get warm enough to go near the lake until late June. Then the temperatures start to drop right after Labor Day. I mean really drop.

Here in Virginia Beach we can start doing sessions with sand between our toes around mid-April and keep right on to almost Halloween. Even then there’s an occasional day where the temps spike into the low 80’s well into November and off we go.

Even with all this time I still like to maximize our efforts. Adding sunrise sessions alone double photographic opportunities when it comes to glorious skies for backdrops. Added bonuses for sunrise sessions include empty beaches and cooler temps.

I take it a step further by offering Super Sessions. We combine two different sessions into one. Past Super Sessions have mashed up fitness, fashion, beach, beauty, headshots, boudoir and form in various ways.

In this case Susie and I met at the beach for her first ever sunrise session and then, after a break to refresh ourselves, jumped right into a boudoir session. Susie is no stranger to boudoir, by the way. You can see examples of her work here – https://sensualphotosbymarkk.com/.

This is perfect for those wanting to maximize their time while visiting the area or have to make a trip to get here. The pace is much more mellow and we get so many different images. You’ve made the effort to prep and get here, why not take full advantage of the situation?

So, even though people are starting to think about pumpkin spiced everything or going back to school, there is still plenty of time to get in a portrait session at the beach. Add to that the possibility of a Super Session to get the most out of our time together.
