Getting our fashion on in a Norfolk, Virginia alley
I’m all for changing things up and mashing things together. In this case I placed the beautiful Whitney Lockwood in a back alley and a side street in downtown Norfolk, Virginia for a fashion session before moving on to a fitness session in a nearby gym.
Working on location has its ups and downs. The ups include dynamic environments that change every time you look in a new direction or as the sun goes across the sky. One of the downsides is that we always seem to collect onlookers which is understandable when you’re working with someone like the graceful and elegant Whitney.
Within minutes of setting up the first shot a steady stream of workers emerged from the backs of restaurants and other local businesses to “take a break”. One even pulled up a broken desk chair. They all remained at a respectful distance and didn’t interfere in any way as we worked through our session.
The benefits of working in such a place far, far outweigh the slight inconveniences. In this case the stark, gray, urban background provided a nice contrast to the feminine form in colorful, chic, stylish, garments. Each alleyway/street has it’s own unique characteristics that make for wonderful images.
