My first time at New Kent Winery with this wonderful couple
Heather and James met through eHarmony early on in 2012. As Heather puts it “Our first date was the beginning of our forever. There was an instant connection.”
Soon after they introduced their children to each other and never looked back.
“It’s been a crazy journey but we wouldn’t change any of it,” says Heather. “In March of 2013 we survived our first deployment which proved we could get through anything together. Shortly after he came home he got down on one knee with all our kids and family present and of course I said yes! Now in only 3 short weeks we will begin a new chapter of our life together as husband and wife.”
I met up with Heather and James for their engagement session last Sunday. While I’ve known Heather for a while now, it was my first time meeting James plus it was my first time at the Winery. This session gave me the opportunity to meet and work with them while scoping out the place for potential images when I shoot their wedding.
*Big tip here for photographers. If the place is new to you it’s always wise to get there days/weeks ahead of time to look things over, figure out the light, angles, make a game plan, try some test shots, and just get comfortable with the place. Otherwise you’ll have another layer of pressure on you on a day that already has enough. Be smart by being ready.
The engagement session went wonderfully as we tried several ideas Heather and James had. As it always happens we ran out of light and time before ideas but we have another day to capture those ;-).
